What are OneTouch Verio Test Strips?
OneTouch Verio Test Strips are used to test blood sugar levels. They work by introducing glucose (sugar) in the blood sample to certain chemicals on the test strip to produce an electrical current. The strength of the current depends on the level of glucose in the blood sample. The OneTouch Verio Family of Meters measures the current, calculates the blood sugar level and displays the result on their screen. OneTouch Verio Test Strip is supplied in a package of 50 or 100 strips. The strips are made of flavin-adenine-dinucleotide-dependent glucose dehydrogenase 2U, potassium ferricyanide 41µg, and other ingredients such as buffer and drying agents.
What are OneTouch Verio Test Strips used for?
It is used for the quantitative measurement of glucose (sugar) in fresh capillary whole-blood samples drawn from the fingertips. It is meant to be used with OneTouch Verio Meter, OneTouch Verio Flex Meter, or OneTouch Verio IQ Meter. To ensure accuracy, the meters should be calibrated with OneTouch Verio Control Solution prior to use with OneTouch Verio Test Strips.
Why use OneTouch Verio Test Strips?
Based on data from a sample of 100 patients using both the OneTouch Verio System and the YSI 2300 Glucose Analyzer laboratory instrument, the greatest variability between test strips when tested with blood was only 2.65% or less.
These strips are considered one of the most accurate, as they actively scan each and every blood sample 500 times to correct any common interfering substances, such as vitamin C and acetaminophen. It is also convenient, as only a tiny blood sample (0.4µL) is needed and can be placed onto either side of the strip.Click to read more Click to read less
