What is Amaryl?
Amaryl is a type of antidiabetic drug called sulfonylurea. Containing glimepiride as the medicinal ingredient, it helps lower blood sugar level by promoting insulin release from pancreatic β cells. In addition to the 1mg formulation, Amaryl is also available in other dosage strengths: 2mg and 4mg. Amaryl is taken orally and is considered a medium-to-long-acting antidiabetic medication.
What is it used for?
Amaryl is indicated for the treatment of type II diabetes. It helps to improve glycemic control in adult patients by stimulating the pancreatic release of insulin. Like many other diabetes drugs, Amaryl is oftentimes used in combination with exercise, diet and/or any other non-pharmacological interventions. Amaryl should not be used in patients diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis or type 1 diabetes mellitus. Similarly, it is not recommended to use the drug in pediatric patients. Patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult their doctor before using Amaryl.
Why use it?
The FDA-approved Amaryl has undergone stringent safety testing and is clinically proven safe. It effectively improves blood sugar control in diabetic individuals (particularly those with type 2 diabetes). For best results, follow all lifestyle recommendations while taking Amaryl.Click to read more Click to read less
